Education

In 2021 the demands placed on the design of education buildings in the UK have rarely been greater. Buildings must now be adaptable across a range of scenarios, while making economic savings from modularisation. They must achieve high occupation and provide for rising attendance figures, while maintaining comfortable and healthy environments in the face of rising global temperatures and the risk of infections. In a sector increasingly dominated by low-cost commercial-led solutions they must also lead the way in exemplifying sustainable and civic-minded design. Our practice brings expertise in primary, secondary, and further education design to bear on these challenges. This experience has taught us that the key to a successful project is effective stakeholder engagement to enable effective contribution to the development of each brief and design solution. Our architects and designers are adept at working in detail with stakeholders within a project, finding solutions that meet their needs and ambitions while bringing sometimes conflicting requirements together as a cohesive whole.

The work of the practice includes the refurbishment of existing educational buildings in Oxfordshire and beyond. Our portfolio includes new-build schools and facilities for universities, analysis of sustainability strategies for campuses and strategic advice for clients at the early stages of a project.
