Ancillary accommodation, Gloucestershire
New living accommodation on a rural site on the edge of the Cotswolds. Ancillary to a main house this building will provide self-contained living accommodation for the extended family. At approximately 100 square metres in floor area its plan is compact and contains two bedrooms, two bathrooms, living spaces and a garage/garden store. The building replaces a disused farm outbuilding and is being designed to be zero embodied carbon (the carbon generated by the production and transport of building materials), as well as zero-carbon in use. This will be achieved through the careful specification of recycled and sustainably sourced materials, high insulation, airtightness and thermal bridging values, heat recovery ventilation and on-site renewables.
